Review the section “Connecting Content and Learners” found on page 53 in Van de Walle (2017a). Reflect on the instruction and learning that you have observed in your field experience classroom. For your Discussion, you provide specific examples of accommodations that have been made for students Part1 Share an example of a whole group instructional math task that has been used in your field experience classroom. Based on their learning needs and prior knowledge, provide specific examples of accommodations that have been made for this task for each of the four elements for ELL students, gifted students, and students with learning disabilities. —————- These elements are: *Content: The level of complexity *Process: How students engage in learning *Product: How students demonstrate what they know *Learning environment: The physical space, configuration, and tone of the room Also include a brief discussion of modifications or accommodations that could be made if these populations were completing this math task in an online environment. If your field experience classroom does not have gifted students, students with learning disabilities, and culturally and linguistically diverse students, share examples of accommodations that you would make for these students. —————————————————————- Part2 Identify an area of content (earth and space, physical and life sciences, or health and physical education) that is challenging, confusing, or a concept that you would need to learn more about to teach effectively. Meet (individually) with your host teacher and one other educator in the school. Share what you know and understand as well as what seems to be confusing. Ask them to provide information, ideas, and suggestions on the topic. Complete the PD template. ———- *Describe how you consider yourself a lifelong learner as an educator. *State the topic you chose that was challenging or confusing, and identify the person you choose and why. *Then, share what you learned from collaborating with your host teacher and other experts in the school. *Share ideas on how you will continue to learn and develop as a science educator. Provide at least two examples for each of the following: 1) professional organization websites, 2) sources of support (for example, *District classes, resources available through the District, etc.), and 3) research for PD (potential future opportunities). Attach the PD template you completed.
