As you watch it for the first time, take note of the many analytical elements which can be used for film. It will be helpful to make a reference list for yourself along with a brief definition of each element. Then, choose two of the short films on the Short Film Possibilities – Part I Links to an external site. list to use for this assignment. Watch your first chosen film at least two times, making note of which analytical elements you can specifically observe in the film. Using a Word doc or Google Doc, construct a list with the film timing, the element, along with a brief description (for example: at 1:03, headspace, the girl is walking across the room toward the right side of the screen and she is placed left of center, allowing the feeling of space for her to walk). Your descriptions do not need to be lengthy; they only need to be long enough to clearly indicate the element and how it is being used in the film. Then do the same for the second film you have chosen. At least five different elements must be observed in each film, and the five elements must differ between the films, which means you will define and describe a total of at least ten different analytical elements in this assignment. You are free to define and describe more than ten. If you want to use three films instead of two, in order to generate ten elements, that is acceptable. Multiple viewings of each film will likely be necessary to accomplish this. Clearly indicate which films you are using to generate each listing of definitions/descriptions.
