I’ve attached previous essays in this project to get a feel for the themes and concepts. Analyze a piece of music or film, connecting the piece of art to your chosen theme.
Choose one of the following options for your response:
1. Select one piece of music that will be featured in the exhibition. Analyze at least four elements of musical composition (pitch, tone, rhythm melody, etc.) and how they portray the theme. Why do you feel this piece belongs in the exhibition?
2. Select one film that will be featured in the exhibition. Analyze at least four components of film (mise-en-scène, cinematography, narration, etc.) and how they portray the theme. Why do you feel this piece belongs in the exhibition?
A successful response will include a brief introduction and direct thesis, analysis that incorporated specific examples (direct quotes of dialogue or lyrics, and paraphrases or descriptions of specific scenes or elements from a song) in organized paragraphs, and a conclusion that reinforces the argument. Your response should consider your personal reaction/thoughts to the piece of art (in other words, you should use “I”).
