Flip Your Curriculum With Technology Integration
Complete your Module 4 Assignment by the end of Week 4.
A flipped classroom model can be used to integrate technology using a new pedagogy. Even if appropriate curriculum already exists and has video or other media learners can view outside the classroom, instructors will probably need to create original videos to make the flipped learning a seamless process.
In Module 3, you designed a curricular unit using the ASSURE model as a framework. For this assignment, you will revisit the unit you wrote to flip one specific lesson in your unit.
Step 1. Choose
Choose a lesson from your Module 3 curricular unit to flip. Consider the lesson in its totality beginning with Audience and continuing through Evaluation using the ASSURE framework.
Step 2. View
View these lessons linked on the Learning Objects page:
Flipping the Classroom – Cynthia J. Brame, Vanderbilt University
Flipped Classroom – Rochester Institute of Technology
How do You Flip a Class? – University of Texas at Austin
Step 3. Outline
Using the existing lesson (Module 3) and a lesson plan template of your choice, reconfigure and outline the lesson to determine what best could be taught outside class and what could be taught in class.
Step 4. Develop and Upload
Develop two mini-lecture videos (2-4 minutes each) for use in flipping the lesson you selected.
Step 5. Publish and Create
Publish your lecture videos to YouTube, so you can create a playlist. Create a playlist.
Step 6. Finalize and Submit
In a paragraph introducing your lesson plan, explain how learners will access the videos outside class. Copy and paste your playlist URL into the lesson plan. In a conclusion paragraph, address anticipated challenges in your lesson and how you will mitigate them. Submit your lesson plan with introduction and conclusion paragraphs. Use APA format for the references you used to develop this assignment.
