Intervention #4 – Informational Text and Writing
You are providing Tier III interventions for the student you’ve selected for your case study.
Day One – Using the 6+1 Writing Traits handout (Appendix C.45 in your textbook), analyze a recent writing of your selected student. Select one of the traits (NOT Conventions) as your focus for this week’s intervention target. Using the intervention strategies in your textbook that are appropriate to the age/grade level of your student, target the selected trait when working with your student. Conduct an intervention on that trait.
Day Two – Conduct a 30-minute intervention with your student
Day Three – Conduct a short intervention with your student. Using the traits rubric, analyze the writing. With your student, compare the first writing sample with the last writing sample and discuss the improvement made.
Write a report on the intervention experience. See Appendix B for the report template.
