For this assignment, look for women serving in your community as mayors, congresspersons, state senators, members of education boards, etc. on the state-by-state information page on the Center for American Women and Politics website. Gather the information about who is serving in your area and generate ideas about what you would include in a workshop promoting dialogue about women in politics. You can also choose your hometown or a location you would like to live in one day.

In your paper, include the following:
* Identify how you would create an open and safe dialogue about the connections between gender and power amongst people in your community with opposing ideas. Consider:
* that gender as a political power system is disparate to men,
* the implications of gender’s link to power, and
* the implications between inequality and indifference.
* Explore which theories from your textbook might support your efforts in designing a workshop to create dialogue about the unequal distribution of gender and power in politics.
* Discuss the women in political positions in your community and how theory supports the potential of gender and power.
* Include a discussion about women serving in your community’s political sphere, what their positions are, whether they are successful, and what some of their challenges are.
* How would you make use of their experiences to draw out dialogue about gender and political power in your workshop?
* Create one overall question that could support open dialogue during a potential workshop based on the questions at the end of Chapter 11.
* Explain one area of challenge when it comes to sexual and gender identity to focus on for a discussion for a potential workshop.
* Include solutions to challenges you see existing about having this dialogue in your community.
* For example, you may live in a conservative area where some people do not welcome the idea of a transgender population, or of supporting pregnant people with immigrant or refugee status.
