This week, STARTING MONDAY 11/18, you will begin tracking your self care behaviors daily. This data will be used to evaluate the research question: What is your level of positive self-care behaviors mid-semester? We will be going over the details of this assignment in class Monday as the details of how each item is conceptualized (defined) and operationalized (measured) will be important for cross-group comparisons later. We all must track our data as consistently and accurately as possible in order to improved the reliability and validity of our study. A few important considerations: If you forget to track a day, you can put an X in the box. This is very different than 0 (zero), which indicates you tracked/monitored your behavior, but didn’t engage in this specific behavior. No boxes should be blank. If you start tracking late, please start on the correct day of the week (Wednesday for example, having Xs for all of Monday and Tuesday). You can “make up” the days (read more about extra credit below). You are NOT trying to alter your behavior this week, though you may notice with your increased awareness, this may be harder than it sounds. Our goal is to track your typical behavior. You have the opportunity to repeat this activity in its entirety over fall break. This involves tracking for another 7 days and then answering the questions again, considering how your scores may be different from the week prior. This week you can try to “repeat and beat” your self care score from week 14. To turn in the extra credit week, please use the separate dropbox. SAVE your tracking sheets as we will be entering this data into a shared Excel sheet on Monday 12/2 (after fall break).
