The Vision Board Speech- Writers Choice
Vision boards are an important part of your annual goal-setting process. They help set and prioritize goals, values, and intentions. Seeing a vision board regularly helps with moving towards those identified both consciously and unconsciously.
You can create a tangible poster board vision board or create a digital vision board and display from your computer. What’s a digital vision board? This can be creating a collage of images, quotes, etc. on a Powerpoint slide, Google Slide, Word Doc and display using your computer.
Please take the following steps in preparing your vision board:
1. Set goals and prioritize.
Think about goals/ideas for the coming year. This initial step can include big goals (get healthy and strong, learn how to meditate, vacation, etc.) to the little goals (get an A on in SP 151, etc), intentions (be more mindful, connect with my family better), and words for the year (clarity, joy, peace, etc.). Review thoughts and notes to figure out what your priority goals/ideas are by either circling them or create a new list. After identifying your priority goals/ideas, these will be going on your vision board.
2. Create a basic structure on your board to help with developing your speech presentation.
You could divide the board into sections and write goals and ideas identified on your poster board to keep basic structure and organization. Example sections could include health, school, career, family, etc.
3. Find images and words for the vision board.
Search for and cut out images and words that embody your goals and/or just speak to you. Find anything relating to your goals/ideas (colors, words, interesting images.)
4. Sort and arrange the images and words.
After finding images, segregate and pile images to match the goals/ideas written on each section of your board. Go through the images and decide what you want on the board and place on the section it corresponds with.
Speech Presentation: You will present a 3-4 minute speech with your Vision Board. The main concepts when developing your speech is creativity and the ability to deliver a clear message to your audience explaining your Vision Board. Have fun and create a vision of the person that you will become–don’t limit yourself!
