Training Content:

– Effective communication and feedback techniques
– Managing difficult conversations and conflicts in supervision
– Self-care and burnout prevention for supervisors
Experiential Activities:
1. Role-playing scenarios: Students will have the opportunity to practice providing feedback and support to a supervisee in a simulated session.
2. Case study analysis: Students will work in small groups to analyze and discuss challenging supervisory situations, identifying strategies for resolution.
3. Reflective journaling: Students will engage in guided reflection on their own experiences as supervisors, identifying areas for growth and improvement in their practice.
By the end of the training session, participants will have gained practical skills and knowledge to enhance their supervision practice, ultimately improving the quality of supervision in community mental health settings.
Instructions:
Students will work together to develop and implement a dynamic three-hour supervision training session to be held on campus during the Supervision Practicum semester. This training will target practicing clinical supervisors. Students will generate three training goals that would meet the needs of community clinical supervisors and utilize content and literature from the course for the training. This training must include experiential activities that will demonstrate understanding of supervision principles and best practice to empower supervisors and enhance supervision practice.
