The Senge et. al. (2012) textbook (p. 252-256) acknowledges Freire’s work. Moreover, our textbook authors (Senge et. al., 2012) suggested that “Schools, in particular, are never neutral sites or free spaces; they may pretend to exist outside conflicts or internal and external political structures around them, but they are always shaped by the political structures around them” (p. 253).
