In this assignment you will write a formal analysis of the artistic style of a renowned artist of your choice.
You will be evaluated based on the depth of research you put into your paper (dig deep). You will also be graded on the clarity of your writing and the quality of your argument. This means your ability to support your claims with evidence and examples.
Find articles and books that will support your thesis. Your thesis is what your paper should revolve around. What do you want to know about this artist? Or what makes you curious about their art style? Once you have a solid thesis then you can begin finding books, articles, and manifestos on the artist and their style (avoid using websites, magazines, Wikipedia, and encyclopedias as your scholarly citations).
Additionally, proper citation and adherence to formatting guidelines will be considered in the evaluation. This means using either MLA or Chicago Style and proper citation is placing the author’s name and page number in parathesis next to the sentence that needs to be cited. Which means everything you found out about the artist that is not common knowledge, even if you rewrote the sentence.
