Use this Choosing a Course Capstone document to complete the requirements for each part of your Capstone Project, detailed as follows:
Brainstorm a list of public health issues that affect populations around you (e.g., your city, family, workplace, neighborhood, etc.).
Explore 2 or 3 issues that interest you most. Conduct research into health policies related to these issues. What are the existing policies? How effective are they? Where is there a need for a new policy or meaningful change to an existing policy? Why is a new policy or change needed?
Choose an issue that you would like to focus on. Remember that your issue should be “comprehensive in nature” and “address a macro-level health problem,” according to the APHA guidelines.
Complete the Choosing a Course Capstone document.
Part 1: List the topics you brainstormed.
Part 2: Identify 2–3 issues that interest you most. Conduct research into health policies related to these issues. Be sure to answer the following questions on each issue. What are the existing policies? How effective are they? Where is there a need for a new policy or meaningful change to an existing policy? Why is a new policy or change needed?
Part 3: Write a 150- to 175-word summary describing your brainstorming session.
