A token economy works by reinforcing previously defined, desired behaviors by providing a desired item or token when the behavior occurs. For this assignment you are to develop a creative token economy system for use with a client type of your choice.
Include the following components:
System: clearly defining the three required components of a token economy.
Behavior- Operationally define the behavior you desire to increase/decrease
Tokens- Describe what type of tokens you will use and why. Include a picture of your chosen token design.
Exchange- Method for rewarding tokens and what tokens will be used for. Include a diagram of how the exchange system would occur.
Description/Rational: a summary of your system with the following:
Description of location type in which the system will be utilized.
Description of ONE hypothetical client for whom you’ve designed your token economy system. In your description, include a summary of the person including, but not limiting to, the following: (a) their age, (b) any diagnosis/skill level, (c) interests/preferences, and (d) strengths/needs
Provide a rationale for the “theme” you chose for your system (e.g., based on preferences, client/caregiver input)
Review the various advantages and disadvantages of a token economy system and provide your opinion on its effectiveness in altering behavior within your chosen client type.
