Each student will write an approx. 5-page paper based on their work on the project. For the
first 2-3 pages, students will consider the concept of intersectionality and how factors such as
race, class, gender, etc. affected the person’s life that they are researching… offering privilege
and/or possibly leading to discrimination.
The last 2-3 pages are reflective. Since this project is for the Presidential Seminar, how do you
relate the Catholic Intellectual Tradition and its tenets to this person’s story? Was this person
a Catholic? If so, how do you think their Catholicism may have influenced their career or
achievements? How do you see Catholic values represented in their work?
If not, how does sharing this person’s story support the mission of educating about the Catholic
Intellectual Tradition? Is it important to highlight this person’s work because they are someone
who upholds high moral character, dignity, and promotes greater harmony and respect? Are
they someone who has supported social justice initiatives? Welfare or work that has promoted
the betterment of society or the common good? Consider what you may have learned in CIT or
even this class about what those values are.
Last, please make sure that you tell me a little about your specific contributions to the group
research project this semester in your paper.
Please cite sources in-text and include a bibliography in MLA, APA, or Chicago format.
