As A dental hygienist, I want you to get ready and evaluate your daily production and the cost of you using the operatory and equipment. You want to see what your daily value is to the practice and why you deserve a raise.
You work 4 days per week
You have been working at this office for 2 years
Your hours are 8-6 pm with 1 hour for lunch unpaid
You do not receive sale bonuses for products, and sales of procedures.
You have a salary of $48.00 per hour
You contribute $300.00 dollars towards your medical insurance, and your doctor pays $150.00 toward your monthly medical insurance.
You contribute $150.00 dollars per month to your 401K and your employer does not match your contribution.
You have a uniform reimbursement of $100.00 per month.
You have a 2-week paid vacation.
You do not receive paid holidays or paid sick time.
The dentist charges $250.00 per adult recall and does not charge for X-rays. You do not treat children.
At your last review 6 months ago, your boss said he could not increase your salary because of the increased cost for you to treat each patient. He also, said in 6 months he will re-evaluate your need for a raise.
You scheduled your review in 1 week, time to do your homework!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You are to do a breakdown of the cost of operating your operatory and your salary. A breakdown of the supplies, and electricity (research this one) you use on hourly bases. You should also break down your employer’s medical contributions and uniform reimbursement and convert those figures to hourly wages.
You want to deduct the total of the operating cost + your salary and deduct it from the total of daily recall charges.
I want you to pretend I am your boss, and you are going to submit this information to he/she at your review.
You are to write down all of this information.
The paper will have a cover page and a citation page with 5 or more citations. The body of the paper should be 4 pages. Double-spaced, font of 12
This is how you do it:
Come up with an hourly expense figure ( the total of your operating cost, wages, benefits, and vacation)
Multiple that figure X’s the number of patients you see in a day.
Deduct that figure from the total daily fees charged to the patient.
Multiply the total profit by the days you work
You will then have the amount of profit you bring to the dental office.
I want to know everything. I promise you, this will help you prepare for a review in the future. This is what a leader does to get an increase in their salary.
