Mapping ‘My California’ Assignment:
On a piece of paper or digital device, take a few minutes to draw a Map of California from your perspective.
1) the location of 3 places you consider important,
2) 3 places that you visit regularly,
3) 3 places that are meaningful to you personally for any reason.
4) 3 places that you consider especially significant in California’s history.
Note: strict geographical ‘accuracy’ is not a goal of this assignment. This is ‘your map,’ your ‘California.’
While some of these categories may overlap for you, I am looking for you to identify at least 10-12 distinct places. The best maps will include places at different levels of scale – e.g., from big cities to “Boba Bar and Desserts.”
The assignment is worth 5 points.
Please upload a digital copy of your map – photos or scans are fine.
(If you are using an iPhone, you can help me by converting your file to a jpeg or png before uploading it to Canvas-Assignments. You should be able to go to your Settings, scroll down to “Camera,” tap “Formats” and pick “most compatible” for JPEG. Otherwise it will send the file in a ‘High Efficiency’ – HEIC format, which Canvas can’t read… who knew?)
