The course project provides an opportunity to explore initiatives in higher education and how they impact learning. There are three parts, or steps, of the course project. The response for each area will be assessed by the explicit knowledge-based description of key concepts or questions related to the topic area. Each part will be submitted for feedback. The course project is a compilation of the Module 1, Module 2, and Final Module assignments and should be presented as one, comprehensive and integrated scholarly paper.
The course project will require you to (1) Identify and thoroughly explain your topic, (2) research the topic, (3) reflect on your findings. You are required to use 7th edition APA. Step 1: Identify and thoroughly explain your topic (Module 1)
For the first part of your Course Project, you will prepare a 1-2 page narrative on a selected topic of interest in the history of higher education. The suggested options for this paper are as follows:
Select a contemporary issue or controversy in higher education and trace its historical roots.
Identify a person of some historical significance and analyze the significance of higher education in their personal and professional development.
Examine a type of institution (e.g., minority-serving institutions, single-sex colleges, small church colleges, regional universities) and trace its development over time.
Develop your own project that has at its heart a historical, curricular, or philosophical element. The instructor must approve these “other” projects before you begin writing.
