Purpose of the Assignment
In this Module, you have learned the ins and outs of the marketing and sales process in the senior living industry. Instead of being overly consumed by marketing and sales productivity goals, we need to position ourselves as an assistant in helping our customers and their family to find the communities that best fits their needs and wants.
This assignment is designed to provide you an opportunity to explore the thoughts and needs of older people in senior living. You are going to interview an older person (e.g grandparents, older family friends, community resident) or a family decision influencer (daughter, son etc). Inform them of your class assignment, and ask them the following three questions. Here are the interview scripts:
Interview for an older person:
Hi, (grandpa or other person). I am doing an assignment for my class of “introduction to senior living and hospitality”. I would like to know your thoughts and plans of moving into a senior living community.
What is your image of senior living community (positive or negative)?
Do you plan to move to a senior living community later in life?

Interview for an older person’s family member
Hi, mom (or other person). I am doing an assignment for my class of “introduction to senior living and hospitality”. I would like to know your thoughts and plans of moving (our grandparents) into a senior living community.
What is your image of senior living community (positive or negative)?
Do you plan to move (grandparents) to a senior living community later in life?
Why DO (DON’T) you want to move (grandparents) into a senior living community?
Assignment Tasks:
In this assignment, you should follow the following steps:
1)Conduct your interview (see above), and use notepad to jolt down key points for each question. If your interviewee answers your question very briefly, please probe him/ her further to get more detailed information.
2)Make your discussion in the discussion board.In your discussion, you are required to use the following subtitles to structure your discussion. Your discussion posts are graded based on the content under these subtitles. (60 points)
