Imagine you are an operations manager for a large grocery chain called Penders with locations across the country. Penders has around an 18% share of the grocery store market in the U.S. Its largest rival, GoShop Foods, has around 20% of the grocery store market.
Recently, there has been a lot of talk about utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) in the organization. Penders’s co-CEOs, Simon Parker and Felicity Jones, have asked the company’s director of operations, your manager, to determine the feasibility of adopting AI into the company’s operations. GoShop Foods is also considering the use of AI in its operations.
Your manager has asked you to prepare an analysis of the situation and prepare a presentation to the executive team to help them determine whether or not they should incorporate AI into the company’s operations.
Read the articles from the University Library and conduct additional research about applications of AI in grocery stores.
Determine the position you think AI should have for Penders. Choose to integrate it in some form or argue that it should not be included in the company’s business strategy at this time.
