Understanding anatomy is crucial for students considering careers in healthcare or biology. Practice enhances their familiarity with anatomical vocabulary and concepts, laying a solid foundation for advanced studies. Early exposure aids informed career decisions, fostering confidence and competence in navigating medical terminology, thus shaping future professionals in the field.
Session Summary
The aim of this section is to have the participants reflect that integrating anatomy learning with English language acquisition is vital for students aiming for international study, including in Brazil. This approach enhances bilingual education by combining subject matter with language proficiency, preparing students for academic success abroad. 
The presenter will start by emphasizing that in today’s interconnected world, the health sector operates on an international scale, transcending borders and languages. Whether conducting research or in conferences, the language of discourse is predominantly English. This global standard facilitates communication and cooperation among healthcare professionals and researchers from diverse linguistic backgrounds, ensuring that advancements and best practices are shared and implemented worldwide. Consequently, English proficiency has become essential for individuals seeking to excel in various facets of the health sector, and BMJ Impact Report (2023) encourages a truly global community dedicated to improving healthcare outcomes for all.
She is going to explore the complexity of anatomic terms by making a list of them, which often discourages aspiring professionals in fields like medicine, veterinary science, and biology. The intricacy of these terms can overwhelm students, leading to poor motivation and a sense of difficulty in grasping essential concepts. Consequently, addressing this complexity early on through effective teaching methods and support structures is crucial in fostering confidence and motivation among future professionals.
Participants will be exposed to registration from the classes, which show that personalization and contextualization are crucial in anatomy classes, where students utilize models and authentic anatomical parts from animals. They will also see debates and writing activities, in which students engage in bilingualism, focusing on both content and language learning. The hands-on experience will prove useful for both those that are still struggling with English, or who quickly grasp language while manipulating tools and resources, and those who have mastered the language, and can incorporate less frequent vocabulary into their repertoire. 
At the end of the section, it is expected that participants realize that learning anatomy through additional language can be a successful outcome and help teenagers develop a positive attitude towards themselves as language learners.
