You are to prepare a review paper, in the form of an IEEE conference paper (or a conference sponsored by a society in your chosen field of study) on on an emerging field effect transistor technology that is poised to be an alternative to the conventional silicon MOSFET. Your review should not be about an established FET technology such as the JFET, but rather one that shows potential but has yet to be commercialized. Examples of such technologies include devices made from silicon but use a different architecture than the standard, planar MOSFET, transistors made from different semiconducting materials, and transistors made from two-dimensional materials. The paper should be written as if you are an expert in the field and was invited to the conference to give your perspective on the topic. This is common practice at large conferences and you may actually be able to find examples in on-line databases such as IEEE Xplore or ScienceDirect.
The paper should be no more than 4 pages long. A template for the IEEE format is provided below . An example review paper is also attached. The example is much longer than your assignment but it does provide a model for how a review paper is typically written. You are required to have at least 4 references that come from the peer-reviewed literature. Journal papers are the best choice, but also full-length (4+ pages) conference papers can constitute 2 of the 4 references. You may use non-scientific sources such as magazine articles as aids, but these should not be used as references. Web sites do not count as references either. You are encouraged to include figures. Each figure must have a caption. You may cut and paste figures from your references, but make your own captions and be sure to include a proper reference number in the caption.
Note: The font size for the main body of the text can be 12 point font even if the template calls for something smaller. Smaller font sizes are fine, but 12 point font is preferred to make the paper easier to read and edit. Titles, name and affiliation, section headings and figure captions can be set to an appropriate font size relative to the main body of the text.
