Week 5 Discussion: Roles and Responsibilities for Change
1. Review pages 434 to 445 in Senge et. al. (2012).
a. This section provides a case study that recounts events that transpired from 1991 to 2007 in the Kentwood Public School District in Michigan.
b. The case sets the stage for examining Systems Thinking and deconstructing the roles and responsibilities of stakeholders for change that map to key action items from the National School Board Association’s Framework (See Page 437) in Senge. et. al., (2012).
c. This case (Senge et. al., p. 437, 2012) denotes that communication across stakeholder groups is at the core of creating a shared vision. It goes on to affirm that stakeholder groups/learning groups when put together serve to fuel change. Likewise, the case highlighted that “no action was taken in isolation.” (p. 437); thus revealing, at least in part, the extent to which Systems Thinking is integral to change management.
ObjectiveThe purpose of this discussion is for you to apply the NSBA Framework located on page 437 in Senge et. al. (2012) as a guide to understanding the dynamics surrounding a change initiative at the organization in which you work and to understand the key internal and external stakeholders that are involved in moving the change forward to reality
