Also discuss the barriers to evidence-informed practice that may exist in your clinical setting and strategies to address these barriers.
This assessment provides the opportunity to apply the use of high-level evidence in clinical
practice (knowledge translation).

Assignment structure
• Introduction – provides a road map for the paper (what are you
going to discuss in 1-2 sentences)
• Paragraph 1
• Explain the reason why you have chosen this question (criterion 1)
• Main body of paper – address the remaining criteria in the
rubric. Note the criteria with the highest marks allocated –
this should get more focus in your paper
• Brief 1-3 sentence conclusion summarising what you covered
in the paper
Criterion 1: Identifies and briefly describes a specific
aspect of practice. (10%)
• Why have you chosen this question?
• Suggest providing data or other reasons to support
this discussion (these need to be referenced)
Criterion 2: Develop a specific research question & conduct
the appropriate search for high level evidence.
• Content for weeks 8 – 11 relevant to this criterion
• Question needs to be clear and answerable
• Need to undertake a search & provide brief descriiption so the
marker understands how and where you searched & terms used
• Identify the three highest pieces of evidence, demonstrating
your knowledge of levels of evidence – attach the abstract/s or
summary/summaries of the high-level evidence as appendices
Criterion 3: Critically analyses available evidence
with application to practice setting (25%)
• What are the recommendations? (what do the
resources say in answer to your question?)
• Do you get a clear answer? How does that relate to
(your) current practice?
• If you don’t get a clear answer, can you draw any
conclusions?
