The expectation for the final project (summative assessment) for the course is that you will demonstrate your learning through the development of five comprehensive lesson plans (for one content area/unit) that include differentiated instruction for various types of diverse learners. You may revise 4 days of instruction from a current unit to include differentiated instruction.
Demonstration of your learning will be assessed through the evaluation of the 4 differentiated lesson plans
The 4 lesson plans should include:
The topic, grade level, and standards or learning targets/outcomes for each day.
At least 4-5 different research-based differentiation strategies/accommodations for each day’s lesson. The four strategies will clearly meet the needs of a variety of learners and are used appropriately. The strategies/accommodations should be labeled as to the types of learners the strategy/accommodation will support.
The differentiated instructional activities must be clearly aligned to the standard(s)/learning targets for the lesson and will advance student understanding of the concept and/or skill.
For each of the 4 days, a formative assessment should be embedded in the lesson to determine students’ understanding of the skills or concepts. The assessment should be strongly aligned to the standard/learning target. Two techniques for differentiating each formative assessment must be indicated.
