The Document named The Algorithmic Journey is the proposal of the final game design. According to the proposal the game should be designed with google sheet, and should show the main concept the reading which is using to write the proposal. I will provide professor’s feedback of the proposal as you can use it to improve the game.
Here is the feedback:
This is a very interesting and well-thought-out game design concept, and I think you do a good job here of breaking down Galloway’s essay into the idea of these four “acts,” as you write for the game, with the operator and machine (here, Google Sheets) interacting with one another with varying degrees of agency. I appreciate the way that your game will mirror the text itself.
One question might be how you would implement these various states of the machine — how might you create, for instance, an environment in Google Sheets that “acts” on its own? Are there particular formulas or processes you’re thinking about using in Sheets? And how might you integrate cinematic representation within Google Sheets? Are you thinking about using video, or perhaps creating an animation in Google Sheets? This website post could give you some ideas on how to implement things: https://blog.atylerrobertson.com/read/make-video-games-in-google-sheets-using-only-built-in-functions-(part-1)
I think all four of these states can be totally doable to design as you work on this project — and learn a bit more about the capabilities of Google Sheets as a platform. As always, if you would like to discuss more, I’m available to meet in office hours as well.
