Develop an Instructional Plan. Write the lesson steps using feedback received in a previous assignment “How to Write an Instructional Plan.” Use the Template provided to complete the Instructional Plan Upon completion teach the lesson in your field placement class, write a Reflection using the guidelines below. Explain: (I DO: Teacher only). This is where the teacher explains/defines to the students what they will be learning. Demonstrate: (I DO: Teacher only) To support the explanation(s) the teacher then shows or demonstrates what the students will be learning. Guided Practice I: (WE DO: Teacher and Students). Since the goal of the lesson is comprehension; this is the place where the students are guided to read a book, an article, a text. Guided Practice ll: (WE DO: Teacher and Students) This is where the teacher teaches the students to go back into the text to locate the information to reread and then write that information on the graphic organizer. Application: (YOU DO: Students). This is where the students work on their own to take that information from the graphic organizer to produce a piece of writing in an organized fashion as to what was learned. Students Reflect: (WE DO: Teacher and Students). At the end of the lesson the teacher has a discussion with the students, summing up what they learned from reading and writing. Develop a set of specific questions to ask students at the end of the lesson ensure a lively discussion.
