Presentation: International Indigenous Event/Protest/Blockade Presentation(30%):
Students will be asked to do a 10 minute presentation on an event that occurred any where in the world in relation to politics and Indigenous peoples. They will be asked to highlight the main reasons behind why the event happened and what is happening in present day in relation to that event.
The following questions students will be requested to answer during their presentation are as follows:
1.) What is the name of the event/protest/blockade?
2.) When did it happen? How did it happen?
3.) What is the history behind the event? Is there any history?
4.) Is it still ongoing?
5.) What were the outcomes of the event?
6.) Did the event/protest/blockade advance the rights of our people?
7.) How do events such as this, protests, and/or blockades advance the rights of our people? Or do they not?
8.) Is there another way this could have been approached or do you feel this was the best way?
9.) What do you hope for the future of those who are fighting for Indigenous rights?
10.) How can you help in the fight for Indigenous rights?
will be graded on the following:
Introducing themselves fully, camera on, loud/clear voice, answering all the questions
thoroughly, creativity, engaging the class in the presentation, and ensuring in-text citations and a reference page is used (APA format) if needed.
Please include 1-2 in-text citations from outside sources in the presentation as well to ensure full marks are received.
