Write a discussion post answering the below questions:
How do you feel about the military using soldiers to test drugs such as LSD without their knowledge? If it were legal, would you consider trying LSD? Why or why not? What are your views of using LSD medically?
(Take the stance that you don’t support military use of LSD testing on soldier without their consent. Also, take the stance that you probably wouldn’t use LSD even if it was legal, but support the medical use of it)
Part 2:
Respond to the six students responses below. Example format student discussion responses: – “One point that stood out to me is that the country should stop relying on punitive measures when approaching the drug problem in the US. All concerned authorities should focus on elements that lead to or contribute to substance misuse (Levinthal & Lovins, 2020). I like your suggestion that ‘we should consider the superiority and effects of prescriiption drugs’ because they have a general effect or say in the current crisis. Health system-based controls should be put in place because opioid-based cases of overdose continue to rise.” – “I agree that ‘the opioid epidemic is an example of the disastrous effects of prescribed medicines.’ It is easy or cheaper to buy opioid-based painkillers from a pharmacy because they are easily dispensed and available. This is clear evidence that illegal substances alone are not to blame for the current levels of addiction in America. The first step that can help resolve the current drug crisis is limiting or controlling who gets opioid-based painkillers from pharmacies. Health authorities should develop such measures to limit access or availability of commonly abused prescriiption drugs.”
