The essay should answer the following questions/prompts: What academic things did you learn about the film from the podcast that you thought were interesting? What are some choices that they talked about that the director made that you were unaware of before but now think are interesting. I am looking for academic things, not more trivial knowledge that you might have gained. While you learned that the director had an affair with the female lead actress might be interesting, that is not the sort of thing I am looking for here. I am looking for academic things that you read about in the reading. I also want you to give me at least two academic things from the reading that you can apply to the film yourself that you observed. This could be about the acting, cinematography, sound editing, mis en scene, narrative and other things like that from the reading. I am looking for at least 4 academic things that you can apply to the film, some from the text and some from the podcast.
The purpose of this assignment is to illustrate that even when we enjoy things there is often a lot more that goes into it than what we are aware of if we are just looking at it in surface or superficial way for mindless entertainment. Many times if we do this we miss the art of the work.
This needs to be at least two pages. It should be written as a well constructed essay with an introduction, body and conclusion. It would be simplest and best to make each academic example a paragraph by itself. The paper should be free of errors and you should use parenthetical citation as well as a sources page. The sources page should be formatted in APA format. The paper should be double spaced with arial or calibri 12 point font. One inch margins should be used.
