Lucia notices the strong propensity for young children to engage in “dangerous” activities, such as going up the slide, wrestling with one another, and climbing on the shelving. She begins to wonder why her co-teacher continues to tell them “No” when it seems that they are capable of doing these things without getting hurt. She does some research and finds information about “risky play” and is excited about finding a way to allow her students to take these age-appropriate risks and talk to her coworkers about making these changes in their program.
