Introduction
Case studies are a way to apply the ideas and theories from the readings to an actual business. You should read through the entire case study and give yourself time to digest the information as you will need to connect the issues in the case to the readings from the textbook.
Your goal is to understand what happened in this case, connect the case material to the materials from the textbook and the class lectures and provide an analysis of what when wrong and what managerial practices could be used to prevent these types of accidents. You should address the prompts making sure that you write a thorough and cogent response that uses proper college formatting and citations. You are expected to support your statements with evidence from the case, the textbook, and from outside resources if necessary.

Trans Mountain Pipeline Expansion Project

Solution: Write an expository essay about what you think should be done. Identify the major problems that you believe need to be solved and what solutions do you propose?  This is where you bring in the lessons from the semester, combine it with your own thoughts and experiences, and tell us how to make this pipeline work better or at least how to make it run a bit smoother.  Remember to justify your answer with evidence and arguments from the case or other reputable resources.
Grading Criteria
Acceptable work will have the following characteristics –
You identify the problems that you will discuss.
Provide reasonable solutions that are backed up with evidence and argument.
Justify your statements with information from the case or from outside sources
Cite your sources in the paper and in a Works Cited appendix.
Write clearly
Format your paper correctly.
Expository Essays (Refresher)
An expository essay requires you to develop your own point of view on a topic, clearly state that point of view, support it with evidence from a variety of sources, and create a well-crafted argument to convince the reader that your point of view is valid and useful. You are not simply addressing the prompts; you are using the prompts to guide your argument. Besides addressing the prompts, you will be graded on the following:
An introduction that includes a clear, concise, and defined thesis statement.
Body paragraphs that include evidential support (whether factual, logical, statistical, or anecdotal).
One body paragraph to address each prompt.
A conclusion that does not simply restate the thesis but readdresses it considering the evidence provided.
