INSTRUCTIONS: As we have learned from the print and visual media lectures, photography and images are powerful when it comes to sending a message. TIME magazine is famous for its powerful covers. For this assignment, you will choose a cover from TIME magazine from before the year 2000 and analyze it critically. It should NOT be one of the covers presented in the lecture materials(i.e., PowerPoint). In your analysis, consider the following questions (at a minimum):
Without looking at the issue itself, answer the following questions:
What is the purpose of the cover?
What message is being conveyed?
What do YOU feel seeing it?
What might OTHERS feel?
Does context matter? In what ways? (Examples: culture, time, history, political climate, etc.)
How does this relate to the print and visual media lessons we have had in class?
Your submission should be 1-2 pages long (double-spaced, Times New Roman, 12-point font). You need to include the cover in some way, as either a link or image, for reference.
(MLO: 1 and 2)
