In this activity, you will submit the first draft of your literature review chapter. It should read like a narrative, with the purpose of this chapter being to bring the Scientific American-level reader up to speed on your technical approach and conceptual system. For example, if your topic area is interstellar travel, this chapter might start with something like this:
While interstellar travel has been the subject of many science fiction stories, including Star Trek (citation), actual technological realities are far different. While the Enterprise routinely travels faster than the speed of light (citation), actual spacecraft velocities are still relatively slow (citation). Einstein’s special theory of relativity limits objects to velocities less than the speed of light in a vacuum (citation). Presently, there is actually a theoretical effort underway that may allow travel by warping space (citation). Since the nearest star is about 4.24 light-years away, a real warp drive would come in handy.
