RESPONSE 1: About 135 words
Discussion #1:  What challenges have you experienced as you went from planning a project to executing it? Have you used any of the methods in the text?
Planning a project was challenging because I wanted to see the project’s results quickly. Over time, I found that that method did not work. I have not knowingly used any of the methods in the text. However, scheduling risk is one of the important risk management I should have used. The definition of Scheduling is  “Scheduling risk is the likelihood of failing to meet schedule plans and the effect of that failure.” Detecting early issues in a project is crucial.  It is important to spot problems before they cause serious issues by taking corrective action. This will stop the problems that gridlock could cause. If I had used this approach in planning my business, it would most likely have been successful. My major problem was that I did not set a realistic goal for the project timetable or for opening the business. The deadline was rushed, causing the project to fail before the project actually started
Discussion #2:  Lessons learned are often lost when a project ends.  What is your approach to “looking back” at how risk might have been managed differently?
I learned a lot of knowledge from failed projects when they ended. My failed project showed me what not to do in future ventures. Looking back at one of my projects made me realize that having a good goal (scope) for a project is a must. My project was not well defined or planned out before going forth.  I now realize that the term for my failure was called “scope creep.” The project scope was not communicated clearly to the team members during the project. Thus, this led to the team wanting to change the parameters in the middle of the project. What I would do differently in the future is to maintain and plan for a project.
RESPONSE 2: About 135 words
Some challenges I experienced when executing a project involved a need for more understanding of completing deliverables and an overall training disparity. In some situations, I’ve realized that there are many variables that come with leading a team of college interns, especially with those who require a lot of assistance throughout a project’s timeline. Looking back at those deliverables (which included going over our marketing materials budget by $500), I realized that there is no such thing as overinforming. I’m very used to knowing how to utilize outside vendors because I’ve had that experience. My approach now is to identify risk as a component within any project’s plan moving forward and categorize it accordingly.
