Choose one of the articles from the readings and create an essay evaluating and explaining the author’s argumentation in his or her article.
Your essay must be 1,500 words, and your word count must be included at the end of your essay.
Remember that your critical response is an evaluation of the author’s argument.
Use what you know about a combination of three Greek appeals and/or the logical fallacies to determine the strengths and weaknesses of the writer’s argument.
You will not need to use any other outside sources. Please pull your evidence from the texts in this course.
Double space entire essay; Use Times New Roman, 12 pt font.
Begin with a four-line, double-spaced heading in the left hand corner. Create an original title. Capitalize all important words in title.
Your first paragraph is your Introduction: It begins with an engaging HOOk to grab your readers. Then include a TAG (title, author, genre) of the article. The some details about the article and context on the topic. Then your thesis is last.  (See the samples I included in my current announcement:- )
Please include three in-text, blended quotations with citations in each of your three body paragraphs and a Works Cited page. (MLA 8)
Your essay should be written for readers who are not in this class and who are not familiar with the subject. This means you need to spend some time explaining and defining key terms and ideas.
Begin each body paragraph with a clear topic sentence that states the appeal/fallacy you are going to analyze in that paragraph.
Do NOT announce “I am writing this essay to analyze how…”   or   ” This essay will be about….”   Just include a clear thesis with the three appeals/fallacies that you have found in your article.
Follow all MLA 8 guidelines for citations and formatting. If you are unfamiliar with MLA 8, you may use this templateLinks to an external site..
If your essay does not meet the requirements, it will receive a 6.5/10. Please be sure to double-check your essay for the following:
Did I choose a single article?
Did I explain how the author uses the Greek appeals and/or the logical fallacies?
Did I explain how the author’s use of the Greek appeals and/or the logical fallacies strengthens or weakens the writer’s overall argument?
Did I use MLA for heading, spacing, three in-text quotations with their citations at the end of the entire sentence, and my Works Cited entry? If you have questions on MLA, OWL Purdue’s MLA pageLinks to an external site. will give you an overview of citations and their in-text citationsLinks to an external site. page will give you specific instructions for in-text citations.
