For this week’s discussion we will discuss the implications that ethics has on an organization and its culture. Read the Chapter on Ethics, and Organizational Culture (Champoux, 2017) as well as the Cohen and colleagues (2014) and Hartnell & Kinicki (2011) articles on morals and values in the workplace. The field of ethics permeates all facets of organizations and may influence the overall culture of the organization. After reading the information, determine your stance on how ethics filter the culture of an organization. Watch the video on making hard choices and determine what you would be willing to do or not do for your organization. Are the lines cut and dried or is there ambiguity when discussing ethical behavior in the workplace? Can you think of some examples in your own experience where ethical behavior impacted the culture of your organization?
Respond to the discussion questions: List and define the four major theories of organizational ethical behavior. Reflect on your work experience. Provide at least one example of one of the theories from your experience or from a scholarly article. What is organizational culture and how can it be created and/or changed?
