Why is this humorous? You should recollect from our previous chapter how a bill is passed. In your own words describe what an executive order is. Can an executive order surpass the passing of a bill as suggested in this satire? Are there clear rules on what executive orders are? Are some executive orders controversial because of presidential actions or because of the way the president has interpreted the law? How can an executive order be overturned?
Do you believe President Obama has the authority through executive order to grant legal status to illegal immigrants or to prevent the deportation of these individuals? What about gun control? Are executive orders increasing the power of the presidency? Why or Why not?
Provide an example of another presidential order that was controversial. It may be from any president. Why was it controversial?
