As educators, we are responsible for understanding the needs of our students and being familiar with their needs. You will write about an imaginary child. The child must be four years old or younger, have a developmental delay in at least one developmental area, and attend an early childhood program (family, group or day care). You will create a binder with information and resources.
In this binder, you will provide information and resources about inclusive education; information and resources about the disability of your student; information on strategies, design, accommodations, and services for your student; a discussion of issues for grading, discipline, or other concerns for teachers of your student; and a reference section containing a definition of terms used and your citations. You must include ideas for the full social and academic participation of your student in grade-appropriate general education settings. Consider the child’s strengths and needs in each developmental domain.
Use the prompts provided throughout the semester, course materials and standards documents. You should include:
1. Information about the child and his/her disability
2. Information about the child’s strengths and needs in each developmental domains
3. Information about how this child functions in the classroom
4. Information on the strategies, design, accommodations, and services that would benefit this child (at least 5 pieces of information)
5. A discussion of issues for grading, discipline, or other concern. (In this case, grading=ongoing assessment, formative, summative or screening); (at least 2 pieces of information)
6. What else did you research & find?
7. Don’t forget a reference list…APA.
