Introduction- includes thesis statement, should preview arguements that will be made in the paper, find a quote from research to start intro, do not need any background information.
Body Paragraphs- Topic sentence that builds on the thesis, two sentences in your own words (explain what the argument is), 2-3 pieces of evidence per body paragraph, use own words to connect evidence to the topic sentence
The last body must be a counter-claim about why the filibuster should be abolished
Conclusion- summarize arguments covered in the paper, center the argument in a current or future debate, should not be profound or ask rhetorical questions
Don’t use passive language in any of the paper
Research/quotes = good, can use a much as you want
Work cited ordered alphabetically
