1.Write a short reflection, in your own words, (300- 400 words) on three key takeaways from the assigned chapter and how you plan to incorporate what you learned into your nursing practice. 2. No plagiarism ! ITS about Chapter 3: Professional Practice A little bit about that chapter – Professional responsibilities are the obligations that nurses have to their clients. To meet professional practice responsibilities, nurses must be knowledgeable in the following areas: professional role accountability; role qualifications and competence; nursing licensure; personal, professional, and leadership development; nursing organizations; professional advocacy; business skills; legal practice; disruptive behavior; and ethical practice. Role Accountability Accountability means that nurses are answerable to themselves and others for their actions and impact on others. Regardless of the specific setting, a nurse administrator has accountabilities that are basic to the role. The ANA Nursing Administration Scope and Standards of Practice (2016) notes the following areas of core accountabilities: Safety, Quality, and Risk Management: working to create an environment that supports the nurses’ ethical and social obligations to deliver safe and effective care while working to protect the organization from liability. Health Advocacy: supporting self-determination of care and advocate for protection and rights of all involved in healthcare, including clients, nurses, providers, populations, and systems. QI Clinical Care Delivery: requires a knowledge of the healthcare environment, supports and role models a safe and effective model of care. Healthy Work Environment: establishment and maintenance of a place of optimal well-being where the staff feel supported, safe, and respected. Accountability for Resource Management: having and employing knowledge and strategic management of fiscal and human resources. Legal and Regulatory Compliance: implementing and maintaining a compliance program that meets the legal and regulatory requirements of the many different approval and accreditation processes of the local, state, and federal entities. Networking, Partnering, and Collaborating: meeting the expectation of collaborating and building alliances across a wide span of influence.
